As a skilled and artful improviser, Colleen has a lifetime of experience as an arranger. Her arrangements have been commissioned by leading international vocal artists such as John and Mary Giger, Robert Hale, William Harness, and Janice Johnson and Jill Timmons. Her output also includes a number of popular choral arrangements. She has been commissioned to write piano duets, and performances of her two-piano, eight-hand arrangements have come to be a highlight of the Michael Allen Harrison Ten Grands shows.

She has recently established Lifesong Publications, providing refreshing, artistically satisfying piano and vocal arrangements for advancing students and professional musicians alike. These arrangements are available on Sheet Music Plus, as well as her website.

Her collection of hymn arrangements for solo piano, Fount of Every Blessing, has been published with Fred Bock Music Co. along with Above All Else, Your Name Be Praised, a volume of songs arranged for vocal duet with piano accompaniment written by Colleen and her husband, Nathan Adent. Together they have written over twenty vocal duets, some arranged for choir and piano accompaniment which have also been published by Fred Bock Music Co. As the Director of Music at Glenwood Church in Vancouver, WA, Colleen has arranged a plethora of music for use in the service, instrumental as well as vocal. She often plays for communion, fashioning thought-provoking arrangements that are tailored to the message and the moment.

One of Colleen’s favorite opportunities as a soloist is requesting notes and song choices from the audience, and in response crafts a thoughtful, cohesive, and yet spontaneous arrangement. On livestreams via YouTube, she brings this art form to life creating fresh, harmonically satisfying, and unique arrangements instantly at the requests of the viewers. Whatever the occasion, Colleen artistically spins tasteful and beautiful arrangements, appropriate for the moment at hand. Her extensive repertoire and knowledge allows her to perform stunning arrangements that will engage and enrapture the listener.

I have struggled to find interesting arrangements for solo pieces I could play in church...until I came across Colleen's work.  Her arrangements are interesting and moving, both to play and to listen to.  They are clear to follow but challenge me--she utilizes lots of interesting rhythms and is creative melodically which forces me to really "read" the music rather than fake my way through her pieces.  I look forward to more of her publishing work in the future!

__________

Your arrangements are so beautiful and so unique.  I appreciate that they are true to the original songs, yet so creative at the same time.  One of the most important things to me about my favorite types of arrangements are that they are not "gimmicky" or too "flashy."  There is a marriage between simplicity and difficulty that you have mastered without the "cheesy-ness" of a lot of arrangements I find from others out there!

Your arrangement of “Over the Rainbow” was one of the best I ever heard!
