He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. For several years he was principal trumpet of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Florentino in Florence, Italy, with Zubin Mehta, Music Director. He also has 7 acclaimed CDs on the Crystal label. He will be playing works from his albums, which include many of the standards for trumpet, like the Hummel and Arutiunian Concertos and Sonatas by Kent Kennan and Eric Ewazen, plus some George Gershwin, and works he commissioned. "Holt plays with perfect technique and intonation, altering his sound deftly to suit the works. He is an elegant, sensitive artist." (Gramophone Magazine) We are pleased that Colleen Adent will be doing this concert as well as the previous one. She is superb pianist who is very well-known in the area.
Sheridon Stokes was Flute Professor at U.C.L.A. until his retirement last year and is possibly the most recorded flutist in the Hollywood studios. He has performed here before and we are sure you will be delighted to hear him again. Annie Harkey-Power is one of the best-known local cellists. She has performed here several times and has always been a hit. We are pleased that Colleen Adent will again join us. A marvelous pianist, she is a frequent performer in these concerts and is one of the best-known pianists in the area. The concert will include several baroque pieces and Colleen will be playing both harpsichord and piano. Also on the program will be works that were written for Sheridon.
